A Simple Guide on the Secret to Winning Roulette

We've seen it in movies. The main protagonist goes into a casino, play roulette and beats the house. However in this case, it seems that the secret to winning roulette involves cheating to tilt the odds. Then again he is the protagonist and it is a movie. Reality is way different.

This doesn't mean though that you just go ahead and play roulette. One of the secret to winning roulette is to always look at the odds. Always play where the odds are going your way as much as possible. Thus, it is advisable to play the European roulette than American roulette. The European version only gives the house a 2.70% while the American one has 5.26% edge for the house. Almost double when you think about it. The reason for this is that the European version only uses a single "0" thus having only 37 slots compared to the American wheel which has an additional "00" giving it a total of 38 slots.

The European version also has what is called the "en prison" rule. Under this rule, if the ball lands on the zero slot then the bet is put on hold or "imprisoned." If the player manages to win the next spin, then the "imprisoned" amount is given back. This rule actually lowers the advantage of the house to around 1.30%.

Still on odds, the secret to winning roulette also involves placing your bet on what is called as "even money" bets. This type of bets usually involves choosing between black or red, odd or even, and high or low. This type of bet pays only 1:1 odds, that is, you win $1 if you bet $1. Your chances however in this case can go up to as high as 47%.

Most roulette sites in the Internet would also tell you that the worst bet under U.S. rules is the 0-00-1-2-3 as this gives the house a 7.89% edge. Thus the next advice is to stay away from really bad bets. Example, although a one number pick would have a really good payout, the odds of you winning is only 2.63%. If you're tired of playing the even bets, then you could at least go for the six number combination which allows you a somewhat higher chance at 15%.

Another thing to remember that roulette still involves luck. Thus be careful also of books that claim to know the secret to winning roulette using a specific system. There is no such thing as a perfect system. If there was such a system, then no one would probably be playing roulette.

However, the secret to winning roulette that a player must keep in mind is to play smart. If you think you're having a bad day and you're losing, then stop. Come back again the next day to try. Play smart, that's the key.

So now that you know the secret to winning roulette, the next move is yours.
